Elise and Nick have been together for 8 years, and to me, it seems as though they just started dating. You can tell that they have something special, and that the two of them are really head over heels for each other.
Elise reached out to me via e-mail a couple months ago, saying that she was getting married IN the Penguin Exhibit on THE ICE.
I knew at that moment, we were cut from the same cloth.
The couple reside in Evansville, Indiana and came in just to get married at The Zoo. The night before the wedding I took them to one of my favorite bars, The Ship. Because we had never met in person, it was so great to have the opportunity to spend time with them before the big day. We got to swap stories, share laughs and a few drinks as well.
The day of the Wedding I showed up to the always beautiful, Hotel Phillips to get photos of Elise & Nick getting ready. After a quick little session in the Mezzanine, we headed to The Zoo.
As I was shooting, I could feel them rubbing up against my legs and messing with the zippers on my shoes. At first you think it’s a dog — because it’s the same sensation. They were so cute! The incredible Zoo staff told us that “this would be the most interesting thing ever for them.” And they were right. They were really intrigued by Elise’s dress. So much so, that during the ring exchange a penguin (I believe he was) named Elvis tried to “clean” Elise’s dress. They were the cutest wobblely-tuxedo-wearing-photo-bombers ever.
You can actually watch these cute little creatures on a live web cam set up by the KC Zoo.
After a few photos with the dapper dressed wedding guests, we ventured around, fed some birds, ate some pizza, and dodged Kangaroos. 😉 All in all, it was the most RAD Wednesday Wedding I’ve ever shot. Thank you SO much Elise & Nick for asking me to be your photographer. I was so honored, and had such a FUN time with you two. Please come back and visit KC soon! Xomo
